Plagiarism check and reduction in Hyderabad

Similarity help for Hyderabad scholars, within their university’s limits.

For scholars in Hyderabad, worked remotely from Nagercoil. Checked .

Yes, if you are a Hyderabad scholar with high similarity, we help lower it honestly, working remotely from Nagercoil within your university’s limit.

In Hyderabad, the total percentage alone does not tell much. You have to see which university rule is sitting behind it, because every university here is counting in its own way. JNTUH counts a single source separately, UoH gives relief only to first authors, and Osmania is now checking AI text also. We go over your report on video call and WhatsApp, as we have no office in the city.

Our general method and what we refuse to do are written on the plagiarism check and reduction page. Here we are keeping only to the Hyderabad rules that change how a report is read.

Using your own published papers in the thesis

Many scholars in Hyderabad write some chapters from their own published papers. Whether that overlap is held against you depends on the university where you are registered.

In JNTUH, clause 11 of the regulations keeps your own publications out of the 3% single-source limit. So a chapter made from your papers will not cross 3% because of them. We read clause 11 few times. As per our reading the exclusion comes only in the single-source rule, and about the 24% total it is silent. Ask R&D office whether your papers are counted in the 24% or not.

At the University of Hyderabad, the 2026-27 prospectus ignores the overlap only when you are the first author of the paper. If you are second or third author, there is no automatic relief. Then your supervisor and the HoD or Dean decide. For proof, one annexure is added at the back of thesis with the published paper itself, or else the acceptance letter with abstract. That letter should be on journal letterhead or come from the journal’s official email id. In the same guidelines supervisors are asked not to encourage scholars who copy their papers word for word into the thesis. Even if the overlap is ignored, a pasted paper does not read well in a thesis.

Osmania wants the original reprints of your two papers bound into the thesis as an appendix (27.8). The rules we read are silent on whether this appendix is left out of the similarity count. Ask the Dean’s office before the check. Keep your question and their reply in writing.

Osmania: two undertakings and two certificates for one report

At Osmania the similarity report is supported by more than one form. As per 27.4 of the 2026-2027 rules, you sign one undertaking on similarity, which can be 10% at most, and another on AI-generated content, which can be 20% at most. Your supervisor gives an originality certificate. The RAC also gives its own certificate of originality. That makes four documents, and all of them depend on one report.

The risk does not finish with the viva. Look at clause 26.6. When plagiarism or malpractice is found later, they can withhold the result or cancel it, and this applies to a result already published also. A thesis brought below 10% by swapping words with synonyms is therefore not safe. That problem can come back even after you get the degree.

For the same reason we never use paraphrasing software. Many times the tool output clears the similarity check, but then the AI score of the same text goes high. At Osmania you are signing for both the numbers.

JNTUH: clean the thesis before the colloquium

JNTUH does its check only after the colloquium. You have to carry a Word file in person to the R&D office. If an attempt fails, you get one month to revise, and after three attempts there are no more chances. So the cleaning work has to happen before the colloquium, when no official time limit is running.

If your college or a journal already gave you a report, we arrange the matches source wise and look first at any source above 3%. Even one source above 3% fails the thesis, though the total may be under 24%. In engineering theses we are mostly seeing three kinds of matches. A standard textbook gets copied into the theory chapter, or a senior’s thesis from same lab is reused, or a datasheet or IEEE standard is pasted into the method chapter. The textbook part and the senior’s thesis part you must write again yourself, in your own sentences. With datasheet or IEEE standard text you have two ways. Keep it in quotation marks with a citation, or else summarise it in a few lines.

MANUU library certificate and theses in other languages

In MANUU, the University Library gives a Plagiarism Verification Certificate, and this certificate is bound into every hard-bound copy (23.1.8 of the 2023 regulations). Give it to the library for checking early, so the certificate is ready in hand before binding.

If your thesis is in Urdu, Telugu or Hindi, the tool used for checking makes a difference. The INFLIBNET FAQ says ShodhShuddhi DrillBit covers 15 Indian languages, including Urdu and Telugu. Please ask your library if that service is still available at your university this year. We work on English text only. For a thesis in another language we can help with the English abstract, and the main text stays with you.

How it works from Hyderabad

Send us the complete similarity report with all its pages, because the summary page only show the total. Add your thesis, your university’s name and any AI-content report you got. We work only from the reports given by your university or library.

We group every match in the report by source and by chapter. Then you get a list telling which parts need a citation, which need quotation marks and which you should rewrite. The rewriting is done by you. After you revise a chapter, send it back to us. We go through it and put our comments, and this goes on till no risky passage is left. Before we start, the scope, the number of rounds and the fee are fixed in writing.

The official check you take yourself when the thesis is ready. At JNTUH you go in person, and in the other universities it goes through your department.

Questions from Hyderabad scholars

Do my own papers count against me at JNTUH?

For the 3% single-source limit, no, they are not counted. For the 24% overall figure the clause is not so clear. Check with the R&D office before you reuse full papers.

I’m second author on a lab paper used in my UoH thesis. What happens?

It will not be ignored automatically. Your supervisor and the HoD or Dean review the overlap together, and you attach the paper or its acceptance letter as an annexure.

Will paraphrasing software help me pass at Osmania?

Honestly we tell every scholar to keep away from these tools for the thesis. At Osmania you also sign an undertaking that AI-generated content is not above 20%. Spun text may bring similarity down and push the AI figure up at the same time.

Can you run the official JNTUH check?

No, we can’t. After the colloquium you have to take the Word file to the R&D office yourself. Our part is helping you get the thesis ready before that.

Can you reduce similarity in my Urdu thesis?

Our work is only on English text. For the Urdu text, please talk to the MANUU library about the check and the certificate they issue.
